Après avoir associé l’imagerie traditionnelle khmère à mon univers rétro et rock’n’roll, j’ai découvert le film « Don’t Think I’ve Forgotten », retraçant pendant les années 50 à 70 l’émergence de la musique rock’n’roll khmère. Et puis est venue l’arrivée de Pol Pot en 1975, et tout a été détruit. Par miracle des passionnés avaient réussi à en dissimuler des copies. En tant qu’artiste, j’ai voulu rendre hommage à tous ces musiciens, chanteurs, artistes disparus sans qu’on ne les ai jamais retrouvés, et conserver cet état d’esprit rock’n’roll qui les caractérisaient durant leurs heures de gloire.

After associating traditional Khmer imagery with my retro and rock’n’roll universe, I discovered the film « Don’t Think I’ve Forgotten », retracing the emergence of rock’n’roll Khmer music during the 1950s to 1970s. And then Pol Pot arrived in 1975 and everything was destroyed. Miraculously, enthusiasts had hidden copies. As an artist, I wanted to pay tribute to all these musicians, singers, artists who have disappeared without ever having been found, and to preserve the rock’n’roll mood that characterized them during their glory hours.
